The UAE Fuel Price Committee’s October rates are now in force, and they are the highest of the year. Super 98 costs Dh4.40 per litre, up from Dh3.80 in September. Special 95 is Dh4.28, up from Dh3.69. E-Plus 91 is Dh4.21, up from Dh3.61, and diesel is Dh4.80, up from Dh4.30. Every grade is now above Dh4 a litre.

Time Out Dubai’s price report notes the committee announced the rates on Wednesday, September 30, with effect from Thursday, October 1. Lovin Dubai calculates rises of roughly 16 per cent across the petrol grades and about 11.6 per cent for diesel, making this the third consecutive monthly increase after August and September, following a brief drop in July.

October fuel prices at a glance

  • Super 98: Dh4.40 per litre (was Dh3.80)
  • Special 95: Dh4.28 per litre (was Dh3.69)

UAE pump prices have been set monthly against global oil benchmarks since deregulation in 2015. The committee meets at the end of each month and the new rates apply from the first of the next month, so November’s prices will be announced around October 31. What the rise adds to a month of driving

The maths depends on tank size and mileage, but the direction is clear. Filling a 50-litre tank with Special 95 now costs about Dh214, roughly Dh29.50 more than the same fill in September. For a daily Sheikh Zayed Road commute, that difference repeats every week or so. Diesel users — delivery fleets, buses and inter-emirate drivers — see the largest absolute jump per tank, which is one reason courier and school-bus operators tend to flag fuel months like this one early.

If you are hiring a car for an October trip, factor the new rates into day-trip budgets: a Hatta day trip or a run down the coast costs a little more at the pump than it did in September. Visitors comparing costs can use our Dubai money-saving tips and the budget itinerary to offset fuel with free and low-cost stops, and drivers crossing to other emirates should note the rates are federal — the same prices apply in Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and the Northern Emirates.
