A new group of Dubai educators now hold 10-year residency. Golden Visas have been awarded to outstanding teachers and educators in the private sector to mark World Teachers’ Day, under directives from Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, according to the Dubai Media Office announcement reported by Virgin Radio Dubai.

The recipients work across private early childhood centres, schools and higher education institutions, and were recognised for exceptional performance and the contribution they have made to their students and institutions.

A scheme running since October 2024

This is not a new programme. The educator Golden Visa initiative launched on October 5, 2024, and has since received applications from more than 835 educators. Selection runs through a professional assessment covering academic qualifications, outstanding achievements, contributions to education and the wider community, and feedback from parents and students, as set out in coverage by HiDubai Focus, which cites the Emirates News Agency.

Who can apply in the new round

Applications have reopened. Principals and school leaders, early childhood centre managers, academic heads at higher education institutions, teachers and full-time faculty are all eligible to apply, Time Out Dubai reports. Applicants need to show exceptional academic achievement or innovative contributions, a record of raising education quality at their institutions, a positive impact recognised by the wider education community, and contributions to student outcomes. The full criteria are published by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), and an exact closing timeframe for this year’s round has not been announced.

Why Dubai ties residency to teaching

The initiative sits inside the Education 33 (E33) strategy, which aims to attract and retain educators and strengthen Dubai’s position as an education hub. For families choosing schools, a stable, long-serving teaching workforce is a practical quality signal. Parents comparing areas can pair this with our where to stay in Dubai guide and Dubai tourist visa guide if they are planning a move, and the places to visit in Dubai list for settling-in weekends.
