One of Europe’s biggest airline groups is coming back to Dubai. Lufthansa Group will restore services from late October through four of its airlines — Lufthansa, SWISS, Eurowings and Austrian Airlines — building to as many as 36 flights a week at peak operation.
The phased return reconnects Dubai with seven European cities. If you have been routing through other hubs to reach Germany, Switzerland or Austria, direct options open up again across the winter season.
Restart dates by airline
According to the group’s published schedule, reported by Travel Tomorrow and Time Out Dubai:
- Lufthansa — Munich: from October 25, five weekly (A350-900)
- Lufthansa — Frankfurt: from October 26, four weekly rising to five from November 9
- SWISS — Zurich: from October 27, daily
- Eurowings — Berlin: from November 1, daily
- Eurowings — Stuttgart: from November 1, four weekly
- Eurowings — Cologne-Bonn: from November 3, three weekly
- Austrian Airlines — Vienna: from December 12, five weekly

Why the return is phased
The group suspended Middle East flying in late February 2026 and has been rebuilding its network in stages, with services to Riyadh, Tel Aviv, Beirut and Amman also resuming or scheduled. In its statement, the group said it continuously monitors the situation in the region and that short-notice adjustments to individual routes may still be necessary — so a booked restart date is a plan, not a guarantee.
The Dubai return is part of the wider late-October wave of European carriers restoring winter schedules. Travellers comparing options should also read our coverage of the airlines that resumed earlier this month, and check UAE visa guidance or visa status checks before booking non-refundable fares.
Booking advice for the restart period
Book direct, keep notifications on
Restart schedules can change at short notice. Booking directly with the airline makes rebooking simpler if a date slips.
Watch the December step-up
Austrian’s Vienna route starts latest, on December 12. If your trip depends on it, build in a fallback via Zurich or Munich.
Eurowings adds a premium option
From December, Eurowings plans to introduce its Premium BIZ seat across its Dubai routes — worth comparing against mainline fares if you want extra space on a budget carrier. For where to stay on arrival, our hotels near Burj Khalifa and Dubai Mall guide is a practical start.
